Liberian music executive Spize has sparked an important conversation in the industry after openly calling out the growing use of fake streams on digital platforms to top charts. In a New Year message that quickly caught attention, Spize urged artists to keep things authentic, real, true, and organic, instead of chasing artificial numbers.
According to him, fake streams do more harm than good. They make it harder for genuinely hardworking artists to compete fairly, distort charts, and weaken the value of awards and recognitions that help build a solid music catalog. Spize believes charts and awards still matter because they document an artist’s journey, but only when they are earned honestly.
He is calling on Liberian artists to focus on building real audiences, engaging fans who truly connect with their sound, and allowing growth to happen naturally. In his view, authenticity is the only way the industry can develop credibility locally and internationally.
